Nigerian indigenous telco Globacom has announced the availability of a new service dubbed Glo Smart Learning Suite aimed at helping to meet the e-learning needs of Nigerian students and institutions.

In a statement made available to Business A.M., Glo said the Smart Learning Suite is made up of both an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and a Learning Management System (LMS). The telco said that the platform was designed to help underpin learning, teaching and school management, noting that it is also a viable online education platform.

According to Globacom, some of the benefits of the service include: “bundled free access to the learning portal for students and teachers, full-feature platform to access total learning and school management, including the ability to learn from anywhere, live classes, performance reporting, access for parents and students, live test and examinations, chat services, video conferencing, amongst others.”

The company also noted that the tool will provide an alternative learning resource for primary, secondary and tertiary institution students, as well as professionals who want to boost their skills and capabilities, adding that the platform is also geared at enhancing skill development which will in turn boost capacity building.

“The Glo Smart Learning Suite is a customizable platform which offers rich features including live classes, online tests and examinations, performance reporting, course registration and blended learning (Online/ Offline). The platform will be customized for schools with their specified look and feel (colours and logo) at zero cost to each school and help students whose educational institutions are shut due to COVID-19 pandemic to fulfill their educational needs,” the statement read.

Additionally, the ERP capabilities will help schools to create services including, customised dashboards, Human Resources, visitor pass, payroll, timetable, student clearance and reporting, to mention a few. Glo said that schools need to take advantage of the Glo Smart Learning Suite to help provide smoother operations, administration and learning for students. To access the learning suite, students are to pay a yearly license fee of N10,000. Globacom will bear the cost of data access for students who pay for a license.
