How technology is changing sport

In this article, we talk about unusual technologies and gadgets that have already changed sports and answer the most important question: what’ll happen next? For more content on sports and betting, visit bookmaker-ratings.com.

How technology is changing sport

Technologies already used in the fitness industry

TRX Maps

Using only three squats, the musculoskeletal analysis method makes it possible to identify the weak points in the athlete’s body and create an appropriate training programme.

Percussion massage

There are several tools used for it, including pistols, spheres, rolls, and balls. They help the body rest after exercise, help avoid injuries, and help muscles recover quickly after workouts.

World Class Coach Apps

A programme of remote personal/independent training by a coach. The mentor creates a training programme that you receive in your application, complete and record all results. The trainer notes your progress and immediately makes the necessary programme corrections.

Peloton

A company with a market value of more than $50 billion, which in just one year has become the market leader in home exercise equipment. As a result of the epidemic, users started searching the market for interesting offers and discovered Peloton. This brand, in addition to selling cardio equipment for training at home, also offers online courses for the most efficient exercises.

Analysis

Exercise bikes and treadmills analyse biomechanics, including how an athlete moves, how their right and left sides function, how well they perform their tasks, and where they fall short. In professional sports, this knowledge enables you to enhance the outcome much more quickly. Such knowledge is also extremely helpful for reaching goals in fitness.

Smart cameras

Many other than tennis players felt compelled to change their style of play and tone down their physical appearance because of these improvements. Quite simply, the umpires didn’t have enough time to watch the game. Then came the advent of computerised monitoring and statistical systems. FOXTENN Top Real Precision, often referred to as “Fox”, is one of the most popular tennis technologies of its kind. Fox uses ten lasers and 44 HD cameras to observe the court. The information is then displayed on an external monitor by five servers after being processed with millimetre and millisecond accuracy.

Since even a couple of eyes watching the game closely cannot keep up with the electronics, “Fox” can take the place of the line judges on the field. The system also collects data for the player database on each tennis player, including sprint and serve speeds, on-court movement patterns and other details. Similar technology is used in the NBA basketball championship in America.

Technical doping

The referee’s work has become easier and there are fewer mistakes since video replays have been accepted as a real assessment tool. However, the athletes benefit much more actively from the growth. Thanks to new technologies and materials, better equipment is possible, and many of these developments have a major impact on entire sports. One of these tools is the RZR Laser Swimsuit, whose invention has greatly improved the performance of athletes who dare to use the modern material. The absence of seams is the main distinguishing feature between the “laser” and other suits. The materials are similarly important: the muscles get plenty of oxygen thanks to the interwoven threads of elastane nylon and polyurethane. The new suit was so effective that it was banned a few years after its launch because it was considered “technical doping”.

The future

In 10 to 15 years, flights to other planets might be possible, and by then, serious interventions in the body through DNA editing might also be feasible. In another 15 years, ordinary people will also have access to this technology. Even according to conservative estimates, in about 30 years we’ll be able to control the body.

Where’s it going? In 50 years, every citizen of an industrialised nation will be able to focus everything on his or her body. Sports tournaments will no longer exist in their present form. There will only be Formula 1-like sports and probably some virtual reality games: something roughly comparable to today’s esports, albeit at a higher level.
