Dangote Refinery has successfully produced and launched its first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), becoming the first facility to achieve this feat in Nigeria in the last 28 years.
With a massive processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, Dangote Refinery is poised to boost Nigeria’s domestic fuel supply and reduce its reliance on imported petrol.
Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group, made the disclosure during a media address on Tuesday.
Dangoted described the development as a turnaround for Nigeria after a long period of relying on imported fuel.
The Dangote Group chairman expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for their support and commended President Bola Tinubu for creating an environment conducive to the development of the Dangote Refinery, which boasts a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
Dangote credited the president for playing a vital role in facilitating the project’s success, noting that the government’s policies had been instrumental in enabling the refinery to achieve this milestone.
In his words: “It is a day of celebration. It is a day to give thanks to God, to give thanks to Mr. President, and also to friends who have been supportive in ensuring that this refinery produces gasoline. We are now here.
“As soon as we finalise with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, our product will start entering the market.”
