As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering growth in Nigeria’s aviation industry and making a lasting social impact, Wakanow has reaffirmed its dedication through its Wakacares Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

In line with this, Wakanow recently partnered with Mama J Aviation Consult as a sponsor of the Aviation Career Seminar, a key event aimed at empowering the next generation of aviation professionals.

During a recent visit by Joy Ogbebo, chief executive officer of Mama J Aviation Consult, to Wakanow’s headquarters in Lagos, she was warmly received by Adenike Macaulay, chief executive officer of Wakanow Nigeria. Wakanow used the opportunity of the visit to fulfil its sponsorship commitment to the Aviation Career Seminar.

The Aviation Career Seminar, which was held on October 4, 2024, at The NCCA Annex, Ikeja, is in its 8th year and has remained a vital platform for career advocacy in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

While speaking on the partnership and the company’s priority for societal growth through industry-focused CSR initiatives, Adenike Macaulay, CEO of Wakanow Nigeria, said: “At Wakanow, our commitment to empowering future leaders in the aviation sector goes beyond business. Through Wakacares, we focus on creating social impact by supporting initiatives like the Aviation Career Seminar that equip young Nigerians with the skills and knowledge needed for successful careers in aviation. We believe this will not only benefit the industry but also contribute significantly to the development of society.”

The Aviation Career Seminar is designed to introduce and mentor aspiring aviation professionals, providing a platform where they can connect with industry experts and explore career opportunities. The seminar theme for this year, “Proactive Approach to Capacity Building in the Aviation Industry”, highlights the critical need for nurturing talent and driving long-term growth in the sector.

Joy Ogbebo, CEO of Mama J Aviation Consult, said: “Wakanow’s sponsorship plays a pivotal role in amplifying the reach and impact of the Aviation Career Seminar. With their support, we are able to provide young Nigerians with real opportunities to engage with industry professionals and gain insights that will shape their careers in aviation. This partnership is crucial to our mission of building capacity within the sector and ensuring the future of aviation in Nigeria is driven by well-informed and skilled professionals.

“Together, we are helping to build capacity in the aviation industry while positively impacting the lives of young Nigerians,” Ogbebo added.

Through Wakacares, Wakanow continues to make strides in driving impactful social change by supporting initiatives that promote education, industry growth, and youth empowerment across multiple sectors. This sponsorship further solidifies Wakanow’s commitment to making a difference in the aviation industry and the larger society.

Wakanow is Africa’s leading travel tech company, offering comprehensive travel solutions, including flight bookings, holiday packages, hotels, and visa assistance.
