Frank Omene, board member, Six-EV, and  Dagogo Israel Iboroma, attorney general, Rivers State, the representative of Rivers State governor, at the signing of the electric transport deal

SIX-EV, an e-mobility company dedicated to transforming African transportation through innovative, environmentally-friendly solutions, has inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Rivers State Government, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to launch the state’s transition to electric transportation with the introduction of eco-friendly electric three-wheelers and buses.

The project is expected to provide a practical and sustainable solution to the challenges of rising fuel costs and unreliable public transport, thereby alleviating the financial burden on the Rivers  State residents while promoting eco-friendly mobility options.

According to the Rivers State government, the partnership with SIX-EV, a market leader in electric mobility solutions, is set to bring many benefits and developments including; the provision of zero-emission vehicles that will reduce the state’s dependence on fossil fuels, improve air quality, and ultimately, create job opportunities for indigenes of Rivers State.

As part of this partnership, SIX-EV will be supplying electric three-wheelers and buses customised to meet the specific transportation requirements of the state.

Equipped with advanced battery technology and charging infrastructure, these vehicles offer a cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered transport, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for Rivers State.

The deployment of electric vehicles in Rivers State will not only support the state’s economic growth by generating jobs in various sectors, including vehicle maintenance, charging station management, and transport operations, but also help reduce maintenance and fuel costs for operators, as electric vehicles require less maintenance than traditional fuel-powered vehicles and offer lower operational costs due to their reliance on electricity instead of fuel.

Franklin Omene, a SIX-EV board member, emphasised that the project is in harmony with Rivers State’s strategic plans for sustainable development and improved public health.

Omene stated, “This project is a significant step toward achieving Governor Fubara’s vision for an accessible, sustainable public transportation system that directly benefits the people.”

Continuing, the SIX-EV board member averred, “By providing affordable, eco-friendly transport options, we are not only supporting local mobility but also contributing to a healthier, more sustainable environment for Rivers State.”

Governor Fubara, represented by Dagogo Israel Iboroma, the attorney general of Rivers State, emphasised the initiative’s importance, stating, “This partnership with SIX-EV reflects our dedication to reducing transportation costs for our citizens. By embracing electric public transport, we are creating jobs, reducing pollution, and ensuring Rivers State leads in innovative, sustainable solutions.”
