Children from the Booker Roots Club, an Abuja-based children’s book club, recently embarked on a special field trip to an Access Bank branch in Abuja, marking what the bank hopes will be the beginning of a lifelong journey in financial understanding.
According to Access Bank, While money is often considered a “grown-up topic” in many households, financial habits and, unfortunately, financial pitfalls often begin to form early in life. This highlights the critical need to equip children with fundamental knowledge of how money works, including earning, saving, spending, and giving.
The field trip was specifically designed to bridge this educational gap. Through a hands-on, age-appropriate tour of the banking hall, direct conversations with Access Bank staff, and engaging activities, the children were introduced to core financial concepts. These included the principles of saving, distinguishing between needs versus wants, and understanding the fundamental role banks play in helping individuals manage and grow their money.
Access Bank emphasised that the excursion was more than just a recreational outing; it was a deliberate effort to equip the next generation with foundational financial confidence.
Access Bank, long committed to driving community impact through education and inclusion, is reinforcing a powerful message: financial literacy knows no age limit. By making the banking environment approachable and financial education accessible, the institution aims to shape a future where young Nigerians are not only dreamers but also effective planners, diligent savers, and astute future investors.
