Moniepoint sets benchmark for Africa’s fintech innovation in 2025

…Clinches triple recognition at BAFI, Mastercard EDGE and BrandCom Awards

Moniepoint Inc., Nigeria’s fintech powerhouse, is redefining the contours of financial services across Africa, following a series of high-profile accolades that underscore its innovation, scale, and transformative impact.

The fintech firm secured three prestigious awards in 2025, including a consecutive win as Best SME Microfinance Bank of the Year at the BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, the title of Largest Non-Financial Institution Acquirer in Africa at Mastercard EDGE 2025 in Dubai, and recognition as Most Outstanding Fintech Company of the Year at the Brandcom Awards.

Central to Moniepoint’s achievements is its unwavering focus on SMEs, which remain the backbone of Africa’s economies. The BAFI Awards recognition highlights the company’s consistent efforts to provide businesses with an integrated suite of financial tools, including business banking solutions, credit facilities, and digital management platforms designed to enable scale.

Moniepoint’s international recognition at Mastercard EDGE 2025 further cements its status as a digital payments leader. Held at Dubai’s Atlantis The Royal under the theme “Commerce: De-Coded,” EDGE convenes global innovators to explore the future of commerce through AI, tokenization, embedded finance, and next-generation payment technologies. Moniepoint’s designation as the Largest Non-FI Acquirer in Africa acknowledges its pivotal role in enabling seamless transactions across borders.

Meanwhile, the Brandcom Award for Most Outstanding Fintech Company serves as a testament to Moniepoint’s rapid growth, platform reliability, and market impact. Recognized as Africa’s premier platform celebrating excellence in branding and communications, Brandcom singled out Moniepoint for its ability to combine technology with tangible social and economic outcomes, particularly in financial inclusion. Between 2024 and 2025, Moniepoint’s platforms have consistently bridged the gap between traditional banking and digital finance, making financial services more accessible to millions of previously underserved businesses and individuals.

Founded in 2015 by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike, Moniepoint has evolved from a fintech startup into a comprehensive financial ecosystem serving over 10 million customers across Nigeria and Africa. Its platforms now process more than $250 billion in digital transactions annually, underscoring both scale and market trust. The company’s achievements have attracted global attention, earning spots on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, CNBC’s Top UK’s Leading Fintech Firms, and the Financial Times Africa’s Fastest-Growing Companies list for the third consecutive year.

CEO Tosin Eniolorunda emphasised that the awards are more than accolades, noting that they are catalysts for further innovation. “These awards motivate us to continue building the infrastructure that powers seamless and secure transactions across the continent. We will continue to invest in technology, partnerships, and customer-centric solutions while deepening our commitment to empowering millions of businesses and individuals in the digital economy,” he said.
