UBA extends N157bn rights issue deadline as recapitalisation race heats up

United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) is set to host a special edition of its quarterly UBA Business Series focused on celebrating and empowering the modern African woman.

The event, themed “Gen W – The Evolved Woman,” will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at UBA House in Lagos, bringing together accomplished female entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders to discuss ambition, leadership, and growth in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

The session will begin at 11 a.m. and will also be streamed live across the bank’s digital platforms. Participants can register to attend virtually or physically via the bank’s official registration portal.

According to the organisers, this edition of the UBA Business Series aims to highlight a new generation of women who are not merely seeking opportunities but are actively creating them.

The discussion will explore how women are shaping industries, building resilient businesses, and redefining success on their own terms in an increasingly competitive global economy.

The event will feature a lineup of prominent female speakers including Joycee Awosika, entrepreneur and founder of ORÍKÌ Group; Tomike Adeoye, media personality and entrepreneur; Olufunke Davies, entrepreneur and founder of Fine Funky; and Ayo Mario‑Ese, an award-winning broadcaster The conversation will be moderated by Tobi Bakre, a media personality and actor.

Panelists are expected to share insights from their professional journeys, offering perspectives on navigating corporate and entrepreneurial spaces, building sustainable businesses, embracing authenticity, and redefining leadership as women in today’s evolving economic landscape.

Speaking ahead of the event, Alero Ladipo said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting women and recognising their critical role in driving economic growth and innovation across Africa.

“The modern African woman is evolving in remarkable ways. She is bold, visionary, and intentional about the spaces she occupies.

“Through this edition of the UBA Business Series, we want to celebrate women while also creating a platform where meaningful conversations around leadership, ambition and opportunity can take place,” Ladipo stated.

The UBA Business Series, held quarterly, has become an important knowledge-sharing platform aimed at equipping entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders with the insights and strategies required to build sustainable enterprises and navigate an increasingly complex business landscape.

Through panel discussions, networking opportunities, and expert insights, the programme continues to strengthen dialogue on business growth, innovation, and leadership across Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
