Cassava Technologies has become an authorised reseller of Anthropic’s Claude artificial intelligence models through Amazon Bedrock, giving businesses across Africa another route to access advanced AI tools for their operations.
The agreement will enable the African technology company to provide organisations with access to Claude through a local technology partner, as businesses increasingly explore AI applications for software development, data analysis and other enterprise operations.
Claude, developed by Anthropic, offers capabilities including advanced reasoning, image analysis, code generation and multilingual processing. Through Amazon Bedrock, businesses can integrate the models into their own applications and digital services without having to build large language models from scratch.
Cassava said its authorised reseller status would help organisations across the continent access the technology as they seek to incorporate AI into their operations and prepare for future growth.
The agreement adds to Cassava’s digital services portfolio, which includes connectivity, cloud computing, cybersecurity and AI solutions, supported by its data centre infrastructure across Africa.
Hardy Pemhiwa, president and group chief executive officer of Cassava Technologies, said access to advanced AI models was becoming increasingly important for businesses seeking to apply the technology to their operations.
“What matters to our customers is being able to use AI in their business, and that starts with access to the best models,” Pemhiwa said.
He added that making Claude available through Amazon Bedrock would give African organisations access to advanced AI capabilities alongside the infrastructure, partnerships and services required to adopt the technology responsibly.
Pemhiwa said the company’s broader objective was to expand access to advanced AI for businesses, governments, researchers, entrepreneurs and universities across emerging markets.
The arrangement comes as technology providers expand access to generative AI models through cloud platforms, allowing businesses to incorporate AI capabilities into existing systems and develop new applications.
