NSE delists 84 quoted companies in 14 years

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has in the last 14 years delisted a total of 84 companies from trading on its floor, according to
investigations by businessamlive.

Businessamlive gathered that between 2002 and 2016, the exchange market delisted the companies from trading for various reasons, which varies from regulatory issues to voluntary delisting,

It will be noted that most of the major delisting of these were done between 2016 and 2014, with the delisting of 15 and six companies
respectively

In the review period, 53 companies were delisted over NSE regulatory issues, while seven insurance companies were delisted as a result of National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) regulatory issues. On the other hand, 13 companies delisted voluntary while five got delisted as a result of nationalisation in compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria
(CBN) directive.

Similarly, seven other companies were delisted due to mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
