Markets in Lagos State are now allowed to open fully on a daily basis as the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has given his approved for this to happen across the state.
Wale Ahmed, the Lagos State commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, made this known on Tuesday in a statement.
Ahmed noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu okayed the reopening of markets in order to ameliorate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as other hardships experienced in recent times.
He said: “Mr Governor took the decision to further enhance trade and commerce and mitigate the hardship of recent times and ensure that Lagosians can recover fast.”

Markets were closed following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown in the state. The state government reopened the market albeit partially as the state and the country at large adopted a partial lockdown with markets being opened on specific days across the state.
With the new directive, however, markets are now to resume operation fully.
The governor, however, noted that traders and visitors to markets should follow COVID-19 safety guidelines to protect themselves and the society at large.
