Godwin Obaseki, Edo State governor has reacted to the Finance Ministry’s stance that no cash was printed to augment the FAAC allocation as maintained by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

The governor in a statement obtained by Business a.m. on Thursday adviced the Federal Ministry of Finance to stop playing the ostrich and rather concentrate in facing the country’s current economic problems with a sense of urgency.

The Minister had maintained shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday that there was iota of truth in the claims made by the Edo State governor.

Reacting, Zainab Ahmed had said, “The issue that was raised by the Edo State Governor for me is very, sad. Because it is not a fact. and What we are trying to distribute at FAAC is revenue that is generated and in fact distribution revenue is public information.”

But the governor maintained his stand urging the ministry to stop the monetary rascality.

The governor’s statement further read, “While we do not wish to discuss issues with the Federal Ministry of Finance, we feel it is our responsibility to provide valuable advice for the good of our country.”

“The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning should mobilize Nigerians to stop the country’s apparent fiscal decline.

“Rather than playing the ostrich, we advise the government to take immediate action to end the current monetary nonsense and prevent the current economic crisis from worsening.

“We believe it is imperative to approach the Nigerian project with all sense of duty and dedication and not play to the gallery because eventually, time shall be the judge of us all,” he concluded.
