Chima Chukwunyere,  the chairman of the Imo State  Hoteliers Association (ISHA) has warned some hotel and hospitality operators  in the State that are indulging  in corrupt attitudes and acts that  are capable of bringing shame  and disrespect to the hotel and hospitality industry  in the  and the association  to desist from such things.
In a chat, the chairman frowned at   series of reports he had received against some of the members of the ISHA demanding for different forms of gratifications  from desperate prospect job seekers,  especially the female ones.
He stated  that  such acts are corrupt attitudes,  unprofessional and do not speak good of Imo Hotels. It only encourages indscipline and shame. This has  to stop”.
The chairman also cautioned against poaching which he said has crept into the industry and caused by few senior staff of the hotel and hospitality sector. He argued that such act is capable of bringing distrust  and perhaps malice among members
“Again, we have observed  that some some senior employees,  upon leaving  their place of work for another hotel, convince other staffs to follow them to the new place. I urge  such persons  to please desist from such an act because  as they saying  goes- whatever goes around usually comes around “, Chukwunyere cautioned.
The chairman has made a passionate appeal to the directors  of the hotels and hospitality centres in Imo State to stop sacking employees and as well as the managers without cogent reasons.
Chukwunyere,  the managing  director of Dominion  Paramount Hotel, one of the foremost  hotels in Owerri appealed to  the ” directors of hotels not to sack employees and managers without cogent reasons. As directors, we must be professional as well, and  at all times follow the Standard Operational Procedures(SOPs) in dealing with our staff and management”.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Hotelliers Association boss has reminded his members on the security situation prevailing  in Imo State, saying that “it calls for  caution and extra vigilance” , and encouraged them to install CCTV for security purposes.
