  • Cloud services to boost region’s digital transition

The COVID-19 outbreak and its aftermath have seen a tremendous growth in the adoption of cloud technology globally as users experience increased on-demand availability and access to files, softwares and servers through internet-connected  computer system resources.

According to cloud computing market statistics, the global cloud computing market size is expected to grow from $445.3 billion in 2021 to $947.3 billion by 2026, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.3 percent.

In response to the increase in the adoption of cloud computing globally, MainOne, the leading provider of innovative connectivity solutions for businesses in West Africa, said it has expanded global cloud connect services to the region by connecting businesses to public cloud service providers.

The MainOne cloud connect service empowers enterprises to adopt cloud technology by facilitating direct, secure, and reliable network connectivity between enterprise data centres or office locations and public cloud providers such as Microsoft and Amazon web services. This is supported with a private submarine cable which ensures direct connections to cloud services at speeds from 10 megabits per second (Mbps) to 100 gigabytes per second (Gbps).

These features enable enterprises to collaborate seamlessly using cloud-hosted team collaboration applications, with MainOne cloud connect providing the additional security and compliance benefits for industries in the financial, oil and gas, and manufacturing sectors.

The network solution provider also has a partnership with Equinix-Telecity that grants the company direct access to other global providers such as Oracle and IBM, thereby giving customers access to the services they need.

Oluwasayo Oshadami, MainOne’s head of technical solutions & managed services, said the Cloud Connect service helps businesses in Nigeria, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire adapt to the rapid growth of cloud solutions with the provision of “always-on” secure access to their cloud enabled applications.

Oshadimi also explained that the company’s investments in a world-class connectivity infrastructure coupled with technology from its global partners is strategically positioned to support customers’ digital transformation efforts.
