Rainoil Limited, an integrated downstream company,  has received commendation from African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA), a pan-African non-governmental organization,  for its gas facility located at Ijegun-Egba, Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos State.

Marième Decraene, president of ARDA, Anibor Kragha, executive secretary, and other delegates made the commendation during a recent tour of the facility.

ARDA lauded the company for its resilience and support to the Nigerian economy as well as its sincere efforts to increase domestic utilisation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption in the country, saying that the facility will benefit the Nigerian economy.

Kragha said the tour was necessitated by the need for the association’s members to see in reality the scale of the significant initiatives being undertaken in Nigeria, adding that Rainoil was working in accordance with the Federal Government’s and ARDA’s mission in order to promote cleaner fuel in the region.

He said the vision of ARDA was to lead Africa’s transition to cleaner fuels.
“We also promote the harmonisation of cleaner fuel specifications across Africa in line with the AFRI Fuels Roadmap to avoid urban pollution and the associated health challenges. ARDA supports the implementation of a Cleaner Air Policy with a regulatory framework that considers fuels and vehicles as an integrated system,” he said.

He mentioned that the association was in Nigeria as part of its mission and that it was working to create an integrated plan for African energy independence that would support the refining of African crude oil in modernised African refineries.

The delegation had earlier paid a courtesy call to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), the Dangote Refinery, and was expected to visit the Egbin Power Plant of Sahara Group.
