Buhari nominates Aishah Ahmad, Edward Adamu as CBN deputy directors

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated  Aishah Ahmad and Edward Adamu to serve as deputy directors for a second term at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This was disclosed in a statement by Bashir Ahmad,  the special assistant to the president on digital communications.

According to the statement, Buhari  forwarded the names of Aishah Ahmad and Edward Adamu to the Senate for confirmation as deputy governors at the apex bank, to serve for a second term.

Ahmad  was appointed deputy governor at the CBN on  March 23, 2018, where she was in charge of ensuring and promoting a sound financial system in Nigeria, which is one of the core objectives of the Bank, as published in the CBN ACT.

Prior to   her appointment as the deputy director at the CBN, Ahmad served as the executive director, Retail Banking at Diamond Bank Plc.

Ahmad has over 22 years of experience as a corporate executive and finance expert, and her  banking and investment career spans several financial institutions including NAL Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, and Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc.

Adamu, the second nominee  was first appointed deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria  March 23, 2018.

 He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1981 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Honors degree in Quantity Surveying with Second Class Upper Division.

Adamu  began his career in the Unified Public Service (UPS) in 1983 with the Bauchi State Civil Service. He spent thirty-five (35) years in the UPS, twenty-five (25) of which was spent in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with lots of experiences and knowledge gathered, which makes him an expert in financial matters.
