Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, will be leading heads of aviation agencies and other stakeholders to the 13th Nigeria Aviation Awards and Ministerial Dinner tagged (NIGAV Awards) scheduled for February 22, 2024.

A statement by Fortune Idu, chairman of NIGAV, said necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the success of the event which will take place  at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to Idu, the NIGAV awards will feature King and Queen competition, various awards categories among others.

He said King and Queen of the Air awards were introduced because of the critical role they play in the business.

Idu explained that, at this award, cabin attendants from different airlines are expected to compete for the crown and cash award.

According to him, the award was also put in place to let passengers and the public know that the flight attendants were as important as the pilots, engineers and other personnel.

He noted that despite the challenges and complexities of the sector, the professionals need to be recognised, rewarded and appreciated.

Chris Najomo, acting director general, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has assured of the agency’s support for the event.

Najomo gave the assurance when Idu paid him a visit in his office to brief him on the activities lined up for the 13th NIGAV awards.

With the seamless endorsement  of the NIGAV award by acting director-general of NCAA, the stage for this annual performance assessment  and rewarding event is set.

“NiGAV centre will recognise the contribution  made by both individuals  and organisations in stirring the sector to a success   in the year 2023 despite the challenges which the industry  has faced. Over 30 awards will be presented based on recommendations and public vote,” Idu stated.

Najomo, who was once a NiGAV recipient, will crown the King and Queen of the  air in the cabin crew contest.
