Avanti Communications (Avanti), recently welcomed Kemi Badenoch, the UK secretary of state for business and trade, and Helen Grant , the UK prime minister’s trade envoy to Nigeria, as  part of its commitment to providing innovative satellite communication solutions that can help to improve connectivity and digital access across Nigeria.

The meeting with the UK government officials took place at Avanti’s office in Ikoyi, Nigeria, on 12th of February, and was focused on Avanti’s initiatives to improve connectivity and education in rural areas of Nigeria.

Avanti explored potential collaboration opportunities on future projects with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for girls’ education in Nigeria. Helen Grant , who also serves as the special envoy for girls’ education, highlighted the importance of this work, given the disparities in access to education in Nigeria.

On her part,Badenoch, president of the board of trade, and minister for women and equalities, reaffirmed the UK government’s commitment to supporting British companies in accessing opportunities by facilitating connections with government and regulatory bodies in Nigeria.

Avanti discussed potential collaboration opportunities on future projects with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office for girls’ education in Nigeria with Helen Grant MP, who is also the Special Envoy for Girls’ Education.

The UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade outlined its continued commitment to supporting British companies in accessing opportunities by facilitating connections with government and regulatory bodies in Nigeria.

Debbie Mavis, group HR director at Avanti Communications, expressed delight at welcoming  the British dignitaries to its offices to understand more about the work that Avanti is doing in Nigeria.

“We have invested heavily in the country, and we are passionate about providing more people with access to connectivity and a quality education, sentiments shared by our distinguished guests today. We look forward to growing our presence here in Lagos and want to thank both Ms. Badenoch and Ms. Grant for their continued support,” Mavis said.

As a leading satellite communications company based in the UK, Avanti has been expanding its operations in Africa. In April of last year, the company opened its state-of-the-art office in Lagos, Nigeria, which has become a dynamic center for its African operations.

Avanti’s work in Nigeria has had a significant impact, providing broadband access to 700 rural and ultra-rural communities, impacting the lives of 4 million people.

In addition to its efforts in the areas of connectivity and education, Avanti is also committed to supporting local communities through its initiatives such as the “EduCare” programme, which has provided education support to more than 180,000 African children.

In addition to its direct initiatives in Nigeria, Avanti is also part of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), a partnership of developing countries, donors, international organisations, civil society organisations, and the private sector that aims to raise awareness and facilitate access to quality education for young people worldwide.
