Nigeria is set to make its debut at the the 60th edition of the Paris International Agricultural Show, one of the world’s largest food innovation exhibitions, taking place from February 24 to March 3, 2024. The Salon International de l’Alimentation (SIAL) Paris is a biennial event that brings together the world’s leading food and beverage companies, equipment suppliers, and innovators from across the globe.

Onyinye Madu, the press officer at the Embassy of France in Nigeria, explained that as part of its engagement with the Paris International Agricultural Show, Nigeria will showcase its agricultural products at the inaugural Pride of Nigeria Pavilion. The pavilion will feature a variety of Nigerian agricultural products, including cocoa, palm oil, cassava, Yam, Sorghum, Cashew nuts, Maize, Millet, and Honey.

“This endeavor seeks to propel Nigerian agricultural excellence onto the global stage, amplifying the nation’s abundant agricultural heritage and untapped potential,” Madu stated.

The Paris International Agricultural Show provides Nigeria with an exceptional opportunity to engage with global stakeholders in agriculture, explore trade opportunities, and showcase its agricultural innovations. Nigeria’s participation also signifies the strengthening of the ties between France and Nigeria in the agricultural sector.

The Nigerian delegation to the Show  is led by Abubakar Kyari, the minister of agriculture and food safety, and includes a number of prominent figures from the country’s agribusiness sector, such as Flour Mills Nigeria, BUA Group, and Dangote Industries. The banking sector is also represented by leading Nigerian banks, including Access Bank and Zenith Bank.

For sixty years, the Paris International Agricultural Show  has been a key event in the agricultural calendar, bringing together farmers, producers, manufacturers, and policymakers from around the world. It is considered the largest agricultural trade fair in Europe, and one of the leading trade fairs in the world.
