Unitrust Insurance Company Limited, an insurance underwriting firm in Nigeria, has strengthened its information security system with the receipt of International Standard Organisation (ISO) certification, enhancing its capacity for sustainable growth in the global market.

Digital Jewel Africa, an information security management system (ISMS) consulting and capacity building firm, bestowed the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification on Unitrust Insurance after a thorough assessment of the insurer’s operational processes, personnel, adherence to security policies, and pricing strategies.

Adedayo Arowojolu, managing director/CEO, Unitrust Insurance speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony at the company’s corporate head office in Lagos, noted  that the ISO certification underscores the company’s commitment to protecting its customers’ information and setting a benchmark for excellence in the Nigerian insurance industry.

Speaking on the benefit of the certification to the organisation, Arowojolu noted that the certification has added value to the company’s operations, as it involves the entire team of operations, including people and compliance, adding that in the case of crisis or unforeseen events, the certification has validated processes and controls that will ensure the sustainability of the business.

Adedoyin Odunfa, founder/ CEO, Digital Jewel Africa, commended the company for their track record of growth and development, while calling on the management of the company to continuously improve the system through regular audits, reviews and updates.

The CEO noted that ISO: 27001:2022 is a standard that consists of management processes and controls that help organisations to be able to put in place specific controls targeted at the entire information system flow across the organisation, to address risks that are inherent in the system
