BUA Group has refuted allegations surrounding an unfortunate incident that took place on Agulu-Agwubu Road in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, clarifying that the truck involved in the accident that led to the death of five people, injuring six others, is not associated with the company.
The clarification comes after multiple online reports, including a publication by the Tribune newspapers and accompanied by a circulating video, alleged that a BUA cement truck was responsible for an accident which led to the death of at least five victims. The company, however, denies any involvement in the incident, reiterating that the truck in question does not belong to BUA.
The company in a statement made available to Business a.m., stated, “While we sincerely commiserate with the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident, we intend to set the record straight as the truck in question does not belong to BUA.
The truck involved in the accident in Anambra State on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, is not in any waya BUA Cement truck. BUA Cement trucks are marked with our logo and truck numbers.
“This applies to all BUA trucks for easy identification as standard practice by manufacturing companies that run truck services. Also, the truck involved in the report by Tribune is neither owned nor operated by BUA Cement Plc.”
The company explained that the majority of BUA Cement products are sold directly from the factory, and the responsibility of collecting and transporting the cement lies with the customers who purchase the product.
BUA Cement further clarified that in the rare instances where customers request door-to-door delivery services, the company engages the services of BUA Transport, its transportation and logistics arm, to ensure safe and efficient delivery. The company alos placed a strong emphasis on the fact that BUA Transport operates with the highest standards of safety and that the utmost importance is placed on preserving human life in all of their operations.
“As a responsible manufacturing company, BUA Cement Plc trains and retrains its truck drivers with the support of professional logistic bodies, including the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). This is to ensure safe driving on our roads regardless of terrain whilst also ensuring the
safety of other road users.

In response to the erroneous reports linking BUA Cement to the accident, the company requested that all platforms that have published the misinformation immediately remove it.
BUA Cement also extended its deepest condolences to the families affected by the accident, praying that the Almighty may bring comfort and peace to their hearts and provide eternal rest to the departed souls.
