A couple of days ago, I had the privilege to facilitate the first CPD event for the African Board for Coaching Consulting and Coaching Psychology titled “Beyond the Stars: Importance of Evidence-Based Coaching Practices.”

In a thought-provoking exploration of the evolving landscape of coaching and consulting, industry professionals gathered to unravel the intricacies of evidence-based practices. The event, hosted by the African Board for Coaching Consulting and Coaching Psychology, delved into the critical role of evidence-based approaches in shaping the future of coaching and consulting within the African context.

The webinar began with an engaging introduction, setting the stage for an insightful journey into the trends and challenges faced by coaching and consulting professionals. Attendees from diverse backgrounds eagerly participated in the discussion, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic nature of the coaching community.

Navigating the African coaching cosmos

The first segment of the event navigated the current trends and challenges specific to the African coaching and consulting landscape. Participants explored the unique aspects that influence coaching practices in Africa and how evidence-based approaches can be tailored to address the region’s diverse needs.

From horoscopes to hard data

A critical discussion unfolded around the pitfalls of relying on pseudoscientific tools, such as Zodiac signs, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift towards evidence-based methodologies. The session aimed to dismantle myths and encourage discernment in choosing effective coaching practices.

Evidenced-based practices in African coaching

Insights into the predicted trends for 2024 within the ABCCCP were unveiled, highlighting the increasing demand for practitioners to seek evidence behind claims and the integration of big data to support strategic insights. Attendees gained foresight into the future landscape of coaching and consulting.

Raising the bar for coaching psychology

The disparities in coaching tools, frames, and approaches were scrutinized within the African context. The session emphasized the importance of distinguishing between effective and ineffective practices, underscoring the commitment to excellence in coaching psychology.

The power of authenticity in African coaching

A poignant discussion unfolded on how evidence-based coaching practices contribute to authenticity and credibility within the African context. The session explored ways to foster trust and reliability uniquely tailored for the diverse cultural nuances of the region.

Charting a course for success in African coaching

Practical insights on integrating evidence-based practices into coaching strategies were shared, ensuring a foundation built on reliability, validity, and effectiveness. The discussion provided actionable takeaways for professionals eager to enhance their coaching methodologies.

The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, where participants engaged with expert panelists, sharing thoughts, posing questions, and contributing to the ongoing dialogue about the future of evidence-based coaching practices within the ABCCCP community.

As the curtain fell on this groundbreaking CPD event, participants left enriched with knowledge, armed with insights to navigate the ever-evolving coaching landscape in Africa. The African Board for Coaching Consulting and Coaching Psychology continues to pave the way for excellence, fostering a community committed to evidence-based practices that extend beyond the stars.
