The Anambra State government is set to host a business round table on Friday ahead of the inauguration of governor Willie Obiano for his second four-year term, information made available to businessamlive.com has shown.

The roundtable will hold at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Akwa, the state capital.

Mark Okoye, the commissioner for economic planning, budget, and development, disclosed that “participants at the roundtable would include representatives of government ministries and agencies, private sector organisations and international development partners, and it will serve to focus the government on the key areas of economic intervention for the next four years.”

According a statement signed by the commissioner, the need for the state to assess its progress and explore the potential in other sectors of the state after the successful implementation of state’s economic stimulation plan, which is hinged on four key pillars, namely oil & gas, agriculture, trade & commerce and industry is necessary in view of global trends and current realities.

“The Anambra Business Roundtable will bring together critical stakeholders from the public and private sector to highlight growth opportunities in the emerging industries and build partnerships for value creation. His Excellency, Edward Kallon, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, will be leading international development partners to the strategic meeting,” he said in the statement.

Prominent speakers, panelists and renowned experts like Jean Bakole, director, UNIDO; Ike Chioke, group managing director of Afrinvest; Mezuo Nwuneli, managing partner, Sahel Capital; Nicky Okoye, chief executive officer of Anabel Group; Obi Asika, founder, Dragon Africa; and Kene Mkparu, group managing director of Filmhouse Cinemas, among others, would grace the occasion, he said.

The business roundtable is part of activities geared towards Obiano’s inauguration and swearing-in ceremony for a second term in office on 17th March. The governor’s wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano, is also expected to launch her book.

The Anambra Business Roundtable is facilitated by Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited—a wealth advisory firm involved in investment banking, securities trading, asset management and investment research with a focus on West Africa.
