The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has honoured Chima Nwachukwu, author of When Life Happens—Nigeria’s first insurance-based literary fiction with an award of recognition for his outstanding contribution to the insurance industry through storytelling and creative engagement.
The recognition highlights Nwachukwu’s groundbreaking efforts in using literature, fiction, and digital media to illuminate key themes in insurance—ranging from its principles and benefits to career prospects within the ecosystem. His innovative approach has helped bridge the gap between technical insurance knowledge and public understanding, especially among younger and non-traditional audiences.
Through compelling storytelling, vivid characters, and relatable plots, Nwachukwu has succeeded in demystifying insurance concepts for the general public, sparking critical conversations, and reshaping how the industry is perceived across Nigeria and other parts of Africa. His work has also amplified the role of storytelling in driving financial literacy and fostering inclusion.
By blending literary creativity with deep industry insight, Nwachukwu has engaged a broad demographic including students, professionals, families, and industry stakeholders—across various platforms.
His work has not only raised awareness but also fostered trust, stimulated interest, and encouraged youth participation in the insurance profession.
According to the CIIN, the award represents more than personal recognition—it underscores the essential role of creative communication in transforming how insurance is understood and embraced. The Institute emphasised that such efforts are vital to rebranding the industry and positioning it for inclusive growth, especially in a digital-first era where content engagement is key.
Reacting to the award, Chima Nwachukwu expressed heartfelt appreciation to the CIIN, describing the honour as a win for the wider creative and educational community.
“This honour is not just for me,but for every storyteller, educator, and change-maker who believes that insurance is not just a policy—but a promise, a protection, and a pathway to a better tomorrow,”he said.
