As part of its effort to help combat the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, Cadbury Nigeria Plc has donated some relief items and products to communities in various states of the federation.

It said in a statement that the products included its cocoa powder beverage, Bournvita, to food banks created by states to ease the effects of the coronavirus on the citizens.

A statement from the company added that it donated face masks among others to its host community at Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

It stated that the beneficiary states include Lagos, Rivers, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The company said it also donated some products, along with face masks, to the palace of the Baale of Agidingbi, its host community, in Lagos State.

Oyeyimika Adeboye, the managing director of Cadbury Nigeria, noted that the company was concerned with the disruptions the virus had caused in the economy and businesses.

She said, “As a stakeholder in the Nigerian economy, we are deeply concerned about the implications of COVID-19 and the disruptions it is causing to lives, livelihood and businesses.

“These are indeed challenging times for all of us and concerted efforts must be made to sustain the fight against COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“We are supporting the fight by donating our nutritious cocoa beverage, Cadbury Bournvita, to various states. We hope this will bring some relief to the vulnerable and needy in these communities.”

Cadbury Nigeria said it was currently implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility activity known as the ‘nutrition and healthy lifestyle programme,’ which targeted over 6,000 children in nine public primary schools within its host community in Lagos State.
