Dangote Sugar headhunts Mbeche as group CFO to lead finance strategy

Oscar Mbeche has been headhunted by Dangote Sugar Refinery, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, from Philia Group (Geneva, Dubai, Singapore) as its new group chief financial officer (CFO)
Mbeche was also group CFO at Philia Group where he was responsible for the Group’s finance department in eleven countries and his appointment with Dangote Sugar Refinery took effect from 1 March 2022, the domestic and industrial sugar refiner said in a regulatory filing to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited.
With his appointment Mbeche will take responsibility for executing the company’s finance strategy in support of its overall business plan and strategic directions alongside the rest of the Dangote Sugar Refinery management team.

In the statement signed by Temitope Hassan, the company secretary, DangSugar said Mbeche brings to his new role and the company his wealth of experience in all aspects of financial management, fundraising, corporate finance, trade finance and financial reporting.
“Mbeche is an astute finance executive, a qualified accountant, internal auditor and management consultant. He holds an MBA from the prestigious University of Oxford and has over 30 years of work experience across FMCGs (manufacturing and distribution), hi-tech, accounting and auditing, oil & gas, and banking and finance.
“Mbeche’s international experience includes having worked in or managed projects in 25 EMEA countries including Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. He is commercially oriented and has a commendable track record in governance, integrated risk management, compliance, internal audit, and process optimization.
“He will be working with the rest of the Dangote Sugar Refinery management team to execute the company’s finance strategy in support of its overall business plan and strategic directions. We wish Mbeche all the success in his role,” the company said in the disclosure.
