MTN Foundation has started accepting entries for the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) scholarship programme 2022 and has called on talented young Nigerians to maximise the opportunity.

Entries open for 2022 MTN-MUSON music scholarship programme
The MTN-MUSON Music Scholarship Programme is open to young Nigerians who possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) with credits in at least five subjects including the English Language, and a Higher Pass Certificate in Music (Practical and Theory) from one of the three approved bodies for music examinations – Trinity, ABRSM, or MUSON, according to Odunayo Sanya, executive secretary, MTN Foundation.

A statement seen by Business A.M. said the scholarship programme, now in its 16th year, offers young, talented, and qualified Nigerians the chance to study music for two years at the premier music academy in Nigeria, MUSON, and graduate with an internationally recognized Diploma in music.

Over 400 music scholars have received full funding and support from the MTN Foundation since its inception in 2006 and collaboration with MUSON. In addition to the scholarship, MTN Foundation has also set up a fully functional digital studio, a music lab with laptops, and modern musical instruments.

“Seeing our young scholars succeed in many genres of music around the world has been motivating. Many young Nigerians lack access to affordable and quality music education,” Sanya said.

“We call on talented young Nigerians to maximise this opportunity. At the MTN Foundation, we are thrilled by the talent we see yearly and are looking forward to helping a new crop of individuals realise their aspirations,” she said.

The executive secretary said entries for the MTN-MUSON Music Scholarship Programme 2022 will close on August 21, 2022.
