The Federal Government of Nigeria has published a list of routes and transportation companies that will be eligible for the 50 per cent transport subsidy announced by President Tinubu. The subsidy will be in effect from December 21, 2023 to January 4, 2024, and will apply to travelers using the government railway and selected transportation companies.

The primary goal of the scheme is to reduce the cost of transportation for those traveling to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones. During the holiday season, many people are forced to pay high prices for transportation, making it difficult for them to afford to travel. The subsidy is expected to help to make travel more affordable and accessible for everyone, regardless of their financial situation.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has published a list of 28 routes and transport companies that will be eligible for the travel subsidy program. The programme will begin immediately and will continue until January 4, 2023.

The transport companies that have partnered with the Federal Government to offer the travel subsidy include God is Good Transport (GIG), Chisco Transport, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor.

There are a total of 28 routes that are covered by the travel subsidy programme. These routes include major cities and towns across the country, including; Lagos-Kano, Lagos-Abuja, Lagos-Kaduna-Zaria, Lagos-Jos, Lagos-Enugu, Lagos-Onitsha, Lagos-Owerri, Lagos-Aba, Lagos-Abakaliki, Lagos-Nsukka, Lagos-Uyo, Lagos-Port Harcourt, Onitsha-Kano and Onitsha-Lagos.

Others include; Onitsha-Jos, Onitsha-Abuja; Onitsha-Sokoto; Onitsha-Gombe; Onitsha-ZakiBiam;Port Harcourt-Owerri-Aba-Kano; Aba-Owerri-Abuja, Aba-Lagos; Abuja-Sokoto;Abuja-Lagos; Abuja-Onitsha-Owerri-Port Harcourt, Abuja-Enugu/Abakaliki;Abuja-Gombe and Abuja-Kano.
