Arik Air, one of Nigeria’s important airlines, has been honoured with one of the world’s most prestigious business accolades, THE BIZZ Award 2024, in the Inspirational Company category.

The award underscores the airline’s commitment to excellence and innovation within the aviation industry, the airline said in a statement.

Arik Air has also been inducted as a Platinum Member of the World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB), further enhancing its reputation, adding that the recognition brings with it significant privileges and responsibilities. This honour was conferred upon the airline following a rigorous evaluation by WORLDCOB’s Evaluation Committee.

The awards ceremony took place at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa, where industry leaders from around the globe gathered. During the event, Arik Air was presented with THE BIZZ 2024 trophy, a symbol of business excellence. Additionally, the airline received the World Business Leader award, acknowledging its leadership in operating with innovation, knowledge, and systematic efficiency.

Roy Ilegbodu, Arik Air’s chief executive officer; and Adetokunbo Adekunbi, chief operating officer, were both recognised for their Excellence in Business Leadership, affirming their roles in steering the airline towards continued success.

Adekunbi, accompanied by Adebanji Ola, Arik Air’s head of corporate communications, accepted the awards from Michael Bellido, vice president of WORLDCOB.

In his acceptance speech, Adekunbi dedicated the award to the entire Arik Air team, praising their unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence. He also extended his gratitude to WORLDCOB’s Board of Directors for the esteemed recognition.

Reflecting on the achievement, Ilegbodu remarked, “This award is a testament to the resilience and hard work of our staff, who consistently strive to uphold the highest standards of excellence. We are also deeply grateful to our loyal customers for their continued support over the years.”

WORLDCOB, an international organisation established in Houston, Texas, represents over 3,500 businesses across more than 130 countries. Since its founding in 2004, it has been dedicated to promoting business excellence globally.
