Julius Berger, Rivers sign contracts for construction of 2 new flyovers

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, a leading engineering construction company, has signed new contracts with the Rivers State government for the construction of two new flyovers and a new road project in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The contract signing ceremony held at the Government House in Port Harcourt was presided over by Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Wike commended Julius Berger, the state’s trusted infrastructure development partner, for its commanding engineering standards, reliable project delivery, and brilliant and outstanding quality.
Wike described his administration’s construction of 12 flyovers, among other infrastructure projects in the state within four years since 2019, as a record-breaking feat in the history of Nigeria.
He also thanked the leaders of the state for their support to his administration towards the actualisation of infrastructural developments.
Lars Richter, managing director of Julius Berger Plc, said the foremost construction company had earlier successfully delivered six flyovers, which have been commissioned by the Rivers State government for the beneficial use of the state.
The managing director thanked Governor Wike for the trust he has continued to repose in Julius Berger for the construction of the major infrastructural development works.
Richter, on behalf of the board and executive management of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, further assured that in line with the constant contractual culture of Julius Berger, the three new projects would be delivered to the traditional great quality, the Julius Berger standard, and on time as contracted.
He disclosed that the flyovers, which have a completion period of 10 months, would be located at the Rumuokuta and NTA-Choba Road, Obia Akpo LGA.
Richter added that a contract was also signed for the dualization of Azikiwe Street, Iloabuchi Road in Port Harcourt with a completion period of six months.
The Julius Berger team also had Juergen Fischer, the company’s regional manager, South-East/South-South, Sam Ngbor, project coordinator, South-East/South-South, Rimon Marisho, special projects manager, and Moses Duku, head, media relations office.
Ipalibo Harry Banigo, deputy governor of Rivers State, members of the Rivers State Executive Council, speaker and members of the Rivers State Assembly, elders, chiefs, and senior civil servants were also present at the ceremony.
