The Federal Government this Tuesday has announced a further extension of deadline of the ongoing registration for the National Identity Number (NIN). The new deadline for the exercise is now June 30, 2021.
The deadline you would recall had earlier been shifted four times.
We had earlier speculated this earlier going by the numbers of persons still yet to enrol for theirs along with several obstacles noticed.
The announcement was contained in a statement jointly signed by the head of Corporate Communications, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Kayode Adegoke and Director of Public Affairs of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Ikechukwu Adinde, and made available to news men this Tuesday.
They noted that the extension was as a result of the virtual meeting chaired by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and attended by the chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Adeolu Akande.
Other people in attendance were the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Prof Umar Garba Dambatta and the Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr Aliyu Azeez.
