Lafarge strengthens trade partnerships at 2025 Customer and Transporter Awards

Lafarge has reinforced its commitment to strengthening its commercial ecosystem, celebrating top-performing customers and transport partners at its 2025 Customer & Transporter Awards held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The ceremony, hosted by Lafarge Africa Plc, brought together key stakeholders across the construction value chain, including senior government officials, board members and industry partners, in what the company described as the pinnacle of its annual commercial engagement calendar. The event recognised exceptional performance among customers and logistics operators whose activities underpin the company’s nationwide market penetration.

Among dignitaries present were  Moruf Akinderu Fatai, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, and the Cross River State commissioner for Women Affairs, alongside members of the Lafarge Africa board including Adenike Ogunlesi, Olusola Oworu and Elenda Osima-Dokubo. Senior management and staff of the company were also in attendance.

Operating in a construction market shaped by infrastructure deficits, rising input costs and shifting regulatory priorities, Lafarge Africa used the platform to underscore the importance of resilient partnerships in sustaining growth. The awards, regarded internally as the apex recognition of commercial excellence, celebrated customers and transporters who delivered strong performance despite evolving economic conditions.

Ubong Bassey Obot of Ubotex Nigeria Limited emerged as National Volume Champion. Cosmas Ezeumeh Chizoba of C.C. Umeh and Sons Limited and Etim Effiong Okon of Batoframoje Enterprises secured first and second runner-up positions respectively.

In line with the company’s tradition of asset-based incentives, the National Volume Champion was presented with a 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser, while C.C. Umeh and Sons Limited and Batoframoje Enterprises received a 2026 Toyota Prado and a 2026 Toyota Fortuner respectively.

In the logistics segment, B.I.G MultiQuest Nigeria Limited was named National Winner in the Best Transporter category and awarded a 2026 Toyota Hilux. Two National Growth Champions received 15KVA generating sets, while four regional champions were each presented with Toyota RAV4 vehicles. Other awardees received prizes including Changan CS55, GAC S3 and Hyundai Creta vehicles, 13KVA solar inverters, 80-inch Hisense televisions and industrial equipment.

L-R:Osaze Aghatise, logistics director, Lafarge Africa Plc; Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, group managing director/chief executive officer (GMD/CEO), Lafarge Africa Plc; Ubong Bassey Obot, 2025 National Volume Champion-Ubotex Nigeria Limited; his wife, Ekaette Ubong Obot; Gbenga Onimowo, commercial director, Lafarge Africa Plc; Oluyomi Moses, head of marketing, Lafarge Africa PLC, and Anthonilious Okojie, country head of sales, Lafarge Africa Plc, during the 2025 Lafarge Africa Plc’s Customer and Transporter awards held in Lagos, recently

Welcoming guests, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, group managing director and chief executive officer, emphasised that Lafarge Africa’s growth trajectory would be incomplete without the insight, trust and sustained commitment of its trade partners.

According to him, 2025 marked a year of commercial expansion and product innovation for the company. Lafarge Africa broadened its retail footprint, strengthened its ready-mix concrete business and introduced new solutions targeted at sustainability-conscious builders and developers.

He highlighted the launch of Ecoplanet Elephant and Ecocrete, low-carbon cement and concrete solutions designed to reduce embodied carbon in construction, as part of the company’s alignment with global sustainability trends and environmental performance standards. The innovations, he noted, were supported by digital tools and operational technologies aimed at improving efficiency and customer experience.

“We are here to honour partnership. In 2025, we expanded our retail presence and focused deliberately on customer experience. We strengthened our ready-mix operations and launched innovative, low-carbon products. We could not have done this without our customers and transport partners,” Alade-Akinyemi said.

Commercial Director Gbenga Onimowo described customers and transporters as trade champions, whose belief in the company’s brands has reinforced its strong market position. He stressed that shared values, trust, loyalty and integrity, have defined the mutually beneficial relationship between the company and its partners.

“You are a vital part of our business, ensuring our products are visible and accessible across the country. Tonight’s celebration gives us the opportunity to recognise our collective wins and inspire even greater achievements in the year ahead,” Onimowo said.

From a logistics perspective, the scale of Nigeria’s geography and infrastructure constraints make efficient distribution a strategic differentiator. Logistics Director Osaze Aghatise acknowledged transporters as the critical bridge between Lafarge Africa and end users, ensuring timely product delivery and nationwide availability.

He noted that beyond recognition, the awards serve as performance benchmarks that motivate partners to continuously raise service standards.
