At a recent event, Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft executive vice president,announced the availability of the new AI Copilot feature on new Windows keyboards. This announcement came as part of a larger focus on integrating AI technology into Microsoft’s products. Mehdi explained that the goal of the AI Copilot is to make computing easier and more powerful by bringing AI technology directly to users’ devices.Â
Mehdi said, “We are thrilled to announce the new Copilot AI key for Windows 11 PCs, which is a significant step forward in the future of computing. This new feature will bring AI technology into every aspect of the Windows experience, from the system to the hardware. We believe this will usher in a new era of computing that is more personal and intelligent.”
The VP further stated that the new AI key is not only designed to make computing simpler, but also more powerful and efficient noting that 2024 will be the year that AI technology is truly integrated into every aspect of the Windows experience, redefining what it means to be an AI PC.
Mehdi drew a comparison between the introduction of the new Copilot key and the Windows key, which was first introduced in 1994. He noted that the Windows key revolutionized the way people interacted with their computers, making it easier to access core features and applications. He stated that the Copilot key will have a similarly transformative effect, but this time, it will make it easier to access and use AI technology on Windows PCs. According to Mehdi, the Copilot key will be the “gateway” to a world of AI applications, making it easy to use AI in daily tasks.
