MTN Nigeria has rebranded its fibre broadband service to MTN FibreX, underscoring the telecommunications giant’s commitment to delivering high-speed, dependable, and widely accessible internet services across the country.

The leading technology firm announced that the rebranding marks a significant step in its strategy to deploy next-generation internet solutions nationwide. This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s National Broadband Plan (NBP) 2020–2025, which aims to achieve 70 per cent broadband penetration by 2025, ensuring minimum speeds of 25 Mbps in urban areas and 10 Mbps in rural regions.

MTN Nigeria explained that the new FibreX moniker was adopted to cultivate a more user-centric brand identity. The company stated that the name embodies a more contemporary, relatable, and emotionally engaging brand designed to lead the discourse around the experience of premium internet connectivity.

The company’s objective is to educate and engage potential customers within fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service areas about the advantages of the product.

MTN anticipates that FibreX will play a crucial role in supporting the federal government’s ambition to expand Nigeria’s fibre-optic network by an additional 90,000 kilometres, aiming to increase the national fibre capacity from 35,000 km to 125,000 km.

FibreX promises ultra-fast and reliable internet connectivity, with the goal of meeting the diverse needs of Nigerian users, spanning from densely populated urban centres to more remote rural communities, the company assured.

“The launch of FibreX reiterates our dedication to supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation journey,” stated Egerton Idehen, chief broadband officer of MTN Nigeria. “By enhancing our infrastructure and services, we aim to bridge the digital divide and foster inclusive growth,” he added.
