The Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE) has announced plans for its 10th National Conference, with a focus on the critical roles of the insurance and pension industries in advancing Nigeria’s economic development.

According to a statement from the association, the forthcoming conference—scheduled for September 2025 in Lagos—will be held under the theme, “Strengthening Pension and Insurance Framework for a Better Economy.” The conference aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss how enhancing regulatory and operational structures within the insurance and pension sectors can stimulate broader economic growth.

The event will be chaired by Sunday Thomas, former Commissioner for Insurance, while the keynote address will be delivered by Olatunde Amolegbe, managing director and chief executive officer of Arthur Stevens Asset Management Limited. Amolegbe, a former president of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and a Fellow of the Institute, brings more than 23 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, portfolio management, securities trading, and investment research.

Expected as special guests of honour are prominent industry leaders including Olusegun Omosehin, current Commissioner for Insurance; Omolara Oloworaran, director general of the National Pension Commission; Ike Chioke, chairman of Rex Insurance Limited; Kunle Ahmed, chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA); and Christopher Bajowa, president of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), among others.

In addition to high-level regulators and industry executives, the conference will also welcome participants from across Nigeria’s financial services landscape, government agencies, organised labour, civil society, academia, advocacy groups, and students. Organisations such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nigeria Union of Pensioners, and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are also expected to be in attendance.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor, chairperson of NAIPE, noted that the conference’s 10th edition marks a milestone in the association’s efforts to foster dialogue and reform in the insurance and pension sectors. “In line with the 10th anniversary of the conference, the theme is apt, as it will avail stakeholders the opportunity to analyse the various frameworks guiding the insurance and pension sectors while proffering solutions to challenges that have hindered smooth implementations of these frameworks,” she said.
