The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), in collaboration with Imose Technologies Ltd, a local Nigerian tech company, has officially launched made-in-Nigeria laptops and tablets.
The partnership aims to boost indigenous technology production and strengthen the country’s industrialisation drive. This development was disclosed by Chima Akwaja, NASENI’s deputy director of information, highlighting the agency’s ongoing commitment to advancing local content development and promoting job creation, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to revamp the economy through strategic collaboration and local innovation.
The newly unveiled devices include a 14-inch laptop named NASENI Zedon X-Pro and a 10.5-inch tablet, both of which are designed to meet the needs of various Nigerian consumers.
The Zedon X-Pro laptop comes equipped with a Core i5 processor, offering users a powerful yet portable computing solution, ideal for students, professionals, and anyone needing a reliable device on the move. On the other hand, the 10.5-inch tablet strikes a balance between portability and functionality, making it versatile for a range of activities, from document editing and drawing to video streaming and gaming.

The launch of these locally manufactured devices is expected to cater to government ministries, departments, agencies, private organisations, and the broader Nigerian market, and to encourage the adoption of homegrown tech solutions, thereby reducing dependence on imports while boosting local employment and driving economic growth.
Khalil Suleiman Halilu, executive vice chairman and CEO of NASENI, described the collaboration as a strategic initiative in line with the agency’s principles of “Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialisation.”
Halilu emphasised that NASENI’s mission is to bridge Nigeria’s technological gap by reducing the reliance on imported technologies and establishing the country as a key player in the tech space.
“We are working towards transforming NASENI into a central force in Nigeria’s technology revolution by adopting, adapting, and domesticating cutting-edge technologies. Our vision is to build a national brand so that, moving forward, every household in Nigeria will have at least one NASENI product,” Halilu stated.
The Executive Vice Chairman underscored the importance of the partnership with Imose Technologies in achieving NASENI’s goals. He stated that the collaboration is a step towards promoting the agency’s commitment to self-reliance in technology and empowering Nigerians through innovative solutions.
He further added that this venture reflects NASENI’s dedication to harnessing Nigeria’s technological capabilities and delivering quality products that meet global standards.
