The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced the process of creating 93,731 jobs nationwide before December 24, 2024.

Silas Agara, the director-general of NDE, disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday by the Ondo State directorate of the NDE, calling on unemployed Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity.

He said the mass employment programme would key squarely into the Renewed Hop Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, with the aim of making impact in six out of the eight priority areas of the present administration.

According to Agara, the agency will provide vocational, agricultural and entrepreneurial skills, with complementing transient job opportunities for participants in the public works sector, using over 30 different skill sets.

Also speaking, the NDE Coordinator in Ondo State, Mr. Israel Adekitan, said participants in the programme would be drawn from all the wards in the 774 local government areas of the country, adding that registration would be done online for inclusivity.

“For proper inclusion and transparency, the Director-General of the NDE has directed that minimum of 10 persons should be considered from each of the electoral wards nationwide,” he added.

Adekitan noted that some of the training skills and trades for the job creation exercises include agricultural programme such as fish production, poultry production, feed formulation, crop production, goat rearing, quick fix demand-driven training, digital marketing and solar energy training schemes.

Others are environmental training, graduate coaching, graduate attachment programme, tailoring, plumbing, digital skills, phone repair, welding, start your own business (SYO, among others.

Adekitan explained that at the end of the training, start-up capital, equipment and working tools would be provided for deserving participants to start their businesses.

“Others would be linked to credit granting institutions to access loans to enable them commence small and medium scale businesses,” he stated.

The Coordinator advised unemployed Nigerians to log on to NDE job portal at nde.gov.ng with valid E-mail address and passport photograph for registration or visit any of the NDE offices nationwide.

Adekitan further said the training and empowerment programmes would be concluded by December 24, 2024.

NDE was established in 1986 to checkmate rising unemployment in Nigeria.

It commenced job creation programmes in January 1987 under its four core programmes–Vocational Skills Development (VSD), Small Scale Enterprises (SSE), Rural Employment Promotion (REP), and Special Public Works (SPW).

The agency has presence in all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
