Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of the leading presidential candidates jostling for the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised to open up new job opportunities in the country by making the Nigerian Commodity Exchange (NCX) more functional, if he emerges as the president of Nigeria in 2023.
Tinubu made the promise while addressing Kano State’s delegates, as well as other stakeholders ahead of the presidential primary of the APC, coming up next week, and observed that making NCX work holds the key to the greatness of Nigeria, economically.
Tinubu was in the state in the past week, to woo delegates from the state, for the actualisation of his aspiration, and argued that the agricultural sector, where the state has comparative advantage, will be given needed attention, if given the opportunity to preside over Nigeria.
The aspirant particularly urged the delegates not to make the mistake of voting for anybody other than him, adding that he was better placed in terms of experience to turn the economy of the country around for good.
“I hereby appeal to you to support my presidential ambition by voting for me to clinch the party’s ticket at the forthcoming primary election.
“Today is the day I have come to ask for your support to be president of Nigeria. You can put me there with your votes.
“I believe in myself, I’m smart, intelligent and courageous; don’t make mistakes, choose wisely, choose me, I beg you and you will never regret supporting me,” he appealed to the delegates.
Addressing the delegates at the Coronation Hall, Government House, in Kano, Tinubu vowed to make Nigeria a better nation for all.
He further said that to develop and make the agricultural sector more lucrative, the country needs the formation of a commodity exchange mechanism.
“Commodity exchange is to guarantee to the farmers that there is a market for all the produce that is coming,” he said.
In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, said it was pay-back for Tinubu who worked greatly for the growth and development of the APC.
Ganduje further said that Nigerians were yearning for a candidate who really understands the challenges of the nation and who has enough political skills and competency to reposition the country.
Tinubu had earlier visited elder statesman, and Kano based businessman, Aminu Dantata who turned 91st recently, as well as Yusuf Ali, a long time business associate.
