With only three months of operating as a fully-fledged commercial bank, NOVA Bank has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering relationships within Nigeria’s elite business circles by sponsoring the 27th Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament.

The  event, held at Ikoyi Golf Club 1938 from September 21st to 28th, 2024, attracted golf enthusiasts from across the nation.

The Nigeria Cup, a hallmark event in the Nigerian sports calendar, serves as a unique platform that unites the country’s dynamic golfing community to showcase their prowess and promote unity among business leaders and sports lovers.

NOVA Bank’s sponsorship of the Nigeria Cup highlights the institution’s deep-seated dedication to supporting recreational and wellness activities among Nigeria’s high-net-worth individuals (HNIs).

As a former merchant bank, NOVA Bank has long understood the importance of golf as both a stress reliever and a valuable networking opportunity for top business leaders. With the institution’s transition to a commercial bank, this commitment has been further solidified, as evidenced by their continuing support of the prestigious Nigeria Cup tournament.

Phillips Oduoza, chairman of NOVA Bank, highlighted the importance of this partnership in a speech delivered by Esther Adino, the bank’s group head, retail and digital banking

Oduoza remarked that the Nigeria Cup offers a unique opportunity to connect with esteemed customers and the wider business community while celebrating the sport.

“For over four years, NOVA Bank has proudly supported this tournament. Our sponsorship aligns with our commitment to wealth creation and enhancing the well-being of our clients. Golf plays an integral role in that mission, allowing us to connect with HNIs in a meaningful environment,” he stated.

Reinforcing NOVA Bank’s involvement, Chinwe Iloghalu, executive director of institutional and commercial banking, noted that the bank’s support extends beyond fostering competition to ensuring an atmosphere of relaxation and well-being for its clients. She emphasised NOVA’s vision to cater to high-net-worth clients while also focusing on SMEs and retail customers.

“We are committed to offering personalised financial solutions that allow our clients to     manage their wealth effortlessly while staying fit, relaxed, and focused,” Iloghalu added.

Iloghalu reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to helping clients maintain a balanced lifestyle, with golf serving as a perfect avenue for relaxation and focus.

George Etomi, chairman of the 2024 Nigeria Cup Organising Committee, commended NOVA Bank’s continued partnership stating, “NOVA Bank embodies the spirit of harmony through recreation, and their support reflects the shared vision that has made them a key part of our journey. We are grateful for their dedication and look forward to more opportunities to create lasting impacts together.”

Etomi further emphasised that NOVA Bank’s partnership with the Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament is a reflection of the core values that define the bank which are uniqueness, leadership, teamwork, and passion.
