Oando to contribute expertise at 2024 Nigeria International Energy Summit

Oando PLC, one of Nigeria’s largest energy companies, is set to be a sponsor at the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja from February 26 to March 1, 2024. The event, themed “Navigating the New Energy World Order: Security, Transition, and Finance,” will bring together experts from the energy sector to discuss the latest developments in the industry.
The NIES is a high-level event that brings together government officials, energy sector stakeholders, and other key players from across Africa and around the world to foster dialogue and collaboration. The event is officially endorsed by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which is the principal decision-making body of the Nigerian government.

Oando stated its commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions that meet the needs of today and the future. As such, the company will use its participation in NIES to showcase its investments in renewable energy and other sustainable energy sources, which aligns with the Nigerian government’s initiatives to drive energy transition.
Oando’s executives will play an active role in the five-day event, taking part in plenary sessions to share their expertise and insights on key industry topics. These sessions will provide a valuable opportunity for Oando to showcase its new initiatives and explore opportunities for growth.
At the NIES event, Ainojie “Alex” Irune, executive director at Oando PLC and COO of Oando Energy Resources, will participate in a panel discussion titled “Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience: Empowering Independent Producers in the Dynamic Energy Era.” The session will be moderated by Adesola Adebawo, GM of Government JV and external relations at Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited. The panel will discuss the importance of energy security and transition, and the role of innovation, sustainability, and financial resilience in an ever-changing energy landscape. Irune will be joined by other industry leaders and experts, who will share their insights and perspectives on these critical issues. Irune will also be participating on a panel tagged, “Ministerial Panel Session on Gas Policy, Regulation, and Sustainable Solutions in LNG, AUTOGAS, LPG, CNG, and Gas-to- Power”.
Efuntomi Akpeneye, chief legal officer at Oando PLC, will participate in the NIES Women in Energy Roundtable, addressing the topic, “NIES 2024 Women in Energy Roundtable-
Experience Sharing”. Akpeneye will share her experience and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing women in the energy sector,alongside seasoned discussants.
The roundtable, which will be moderated by Eyono Fatayi-Williams, president of the Women in Energy Network, will focus on the crucial role that women play in the energy sector, and the importance of inclusivity, mentorship, and leadership development.
The session will also highlight the diverse experiences and perspectives of women in driving innovation and sustainability. By sharing their unique insights, the goal of the roundtable is to foster a sense of empowerment and support, and to help create a community that advocates for the advancement of women and the energy sector.
The NIES 2024 conference is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants from across Africa, including policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and other key stakeholders. Together, these individuals will explore how innovation, collaboration, and resilience can help to create a more sustainable and prosperous energy landscape in the years to come.
