Saby Elemba in Owerri

The Owerri Chamber of Commerce,  Industry,  Mines and Agriculture (OCCIMA)  says  it is ready to  organise a smooth and hitch free 2023 Imo trade fair in Owerri, the  Imo State capital.

Anthony Amadi, president of OCCIMA stated that OCCIMA, being the apex trade forum in Imo State, assists its members to locate both foreign and local business partners, assist members who may want to  travel overseas for business to obtain genuine travel documents amongst other things.

He  noted that the 2023 Imo trade fair, with the theme:  “Promoting Economic Development through Entrepreneurship, Manufacturing,  Trade, Culture and Tourism”, will hold at the end of November at the Imo International Market, Egbeada Ubomiri, near Akwakuma junction, Owerri North local government area, of the state.

Amadi further informed that there are still open spaces for corporate bodies, small and medium scale companies,  local governments councils, ministries and agencies that would want to participate in the forthcoming trade fair.

However, the chairman disclosed further that Imo State is endowed with many investment opportunities as well as abundant human and natural resources that could be harnessed to stimulate the development process in the state.

The investment opportunities include agro-based firms like maize processing, palm products processing, fishery industry, etc.

He also noted that because of the strategic location of Owerri, the Imo State capital and its proximity to other towns in the South East and South-South regions, Imo State is also endowed with tourist attractions which potential investors in the hotel and hospitality business  could take advantage of and invest in.
