Owerri chamber chief charges youths to get involved in national development

NIGERIAN YOUTHS HAVE BEEN urged to imbibe the spirit of discipline and sitting down to plan and take part in the tortuous path with patience in order to realize their dreams.


“I don’t believe that Nigerians, especially the youths, have nothing to contribute or offer, it is all about having the discerning mind of an entrepreneur.
“You must be environmentally sensitive to see opportunity, most importantly the area of lack that requires solution and then have the compelling motivation to bring about solution to those vexed problems, which is all about entrepreneurship; then the value of your service is your earnings,” said Everest Okpara, the acting president of Owerri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
The OCCIMA boss is also the managing director of Everight Diagnostic and Laboratory Services Limited Owerri, which also has branches in Okigwe and Lagos, and is one of the highly regarded the country for the provision of niche diagnostic and laboratory services.
Offering services such as Executive Check Up, Preventive Health Maintenance Plans, men and women packages, it runs accurate diagnostic services with experienced professionals using the latest Owerri chamber chief charges youths to get involved in national development

But Okpara spoke at a one-day business workshop and stakeholders’ meeting which had the theme, “improving access to finance for women and entrepreneurs in Nigeria” in Owerri recently.
According to him, youths should start in a small way, be focused and ensure that reasonable sacrifices are made, be ready to work smart and have a mind to succeed through determination.
He appreciated the programme which was tailored towards towards opening up various opportunities for women entrepreneurs as well as potential and budding entrepreneurs as the programme laid much emphasis on sources to access funds to help the women scale up the business in their chosen fields.
Okpara stressed that gender equality could only be achieved through empowering the women, creating various opportunities for them to participate actively in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial development like in commerce, as well as service oriented ventures.
