The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHCCIMA), the second largest city chamber after Lagos (LCCI), made a strong showing with a B2B matchmaking and networking at the just-concluded Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce – (NBCC) UK Trade mission in London and Essex.
Led by Chinyere Nwoga, the first female president since its founding in 1957, the chamber has continued to demonstrate a growing influence on the international trade arena.
Tariboba Memberr, head of PHCCIMA foreign mission desk and managing director/CEO of Now Travel and Tours, represented the chamber’s president Nwoga. She was joined by Ivy Davies Etokakpan, of Eve Afrique News. The two-day programme was designed to deepen bilateral trade and investment ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, moving beyond high-level diplomacy into concrete business opportunities.
On the first day, the mission discussed the topic “Beyond London Trade Exchange”, with a dynamic B2B matchmaking and networking session during which Nigerian and UK-based businesses converged to explore partnerships across diverse sectors, fostering direct commercial engagements and potential deals in a focused, results-oriented environment.
The chamber mission also appeared in the “driving international trade conference” at the prestigious QEII Centre in Westminster featuring in a high-level conference and breakout sessions. Discussions focused on critical global themes, including: Britain’s global positioning, the UK–US economic relationship, global growth corridors (spanning Africa, Asia, and Europe), and Nigeria: gateway to West Africa.
The event brought together senior policymakers, business leaders, and trade experts, creating valuable platforms for strategic dialogue, knowledge sharing, and international collaboration.
The PHCCIMA delegation engaged in conference sessions and networking, reinforcing the chamber’s commitment to equipping its members with international opportunities. They also had the privilege of interacting with key NBCC leaders, including Adaobi Onyedum, director general of the NBCC, and Segun Olujobi Patrick, assistant director (programmes, events & trade).
The PHCCIMA team reaffirmed the chamber’s dedication and firm commitment to strengthening bilateral trade relations, saying initiatives like the NBCC UK Trade Mission play a vital role in supporting Nigerian businesses as they navigate and seize opportunities in the global marketplace.
According to them, the successful outing underscores PHCCIMA’s proactive role in positioning Rivers State and Nigerian businesses for enhanced international partnerships, economic growth, and sustainable development.
