Rack Centre, West Africa’s leading carrier and cloud-neutral Tier III data centre operator, has unveiled its newly commissioned LGS2 12MW IT Load Data Centre in Lagos, hailed as a best-in-class facility set to revolutionise Nigeria’s digital infrastructure landscape.
Speaking at the official commissioning ceremony held at the company’s Lagos headquarters, Maher Jarmakani, chairman of Rack Centre, emphasised that the new data centre underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to innovation, reliability, and security.
He stated that the LGS2 facility, boasting a 12MW IT load capacity, is strategically designed to provide uninterrupted, energy-efficient, and world-class services, offering scalable solutions for enterprises, cloud providers, and financial institutions operating in the region.

Jarmakani further asserted the company’s ambition to maintain its leadership position and play a major role in powering Nigeria’s burgeoning digital future.

Commending Rack Centre’s management for prioritising sustainability and energy efficiency in the facility’s construction, he noted that such advanced technological investments would undoubtedly attract global investors, particularly those recognising Lagos as a hub for innovation and digital transformation.
Egube further described Rack Centre as a trailblazer within the technology and data infrastructure space, adding that the new facility represents a major leap towards the shared ambition of establishing Lagos as a smart and globally competitive digital hub.
In his vote of thanks, Lars Johannisson, chief Executive Officer of Rack Centre, expressed profound gratitude to the Lagos State Government for fostering an enabling environment and providing the crucial support necessary to bring this landmark project to fruition.
Johannisson explained that the LGS2 facility offers best-in-class services that meet the most stringent international standards, providing scalable solutions tailored to the needs of hyperscalers, large enterprises, and cloud service providers operating in the region.
He described the newly commissioned data centre as a significant milestone symbolising a new chapter in Nigeria’s digital transformation, one shaped by technological advancement, sustainable digitisation, and the increasing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Reflecting on Rack Centre’s transformative 12-year journey, Johannisson noted the company’s evolution from a pioneering entrepreneurial venture into a cornerstone of West Africa’s digital ecosystem, underscoring its critical role in securing and enabling Nigeria’s digital economy.
He further revealed the significant increase in the company’s data centre capacity following the commissioning of the LGS2 facility.
With the new centre now operational, Rack Centre’s overall capacity has increased eightfold, solidifying its leadership position as the pre-eminent digital infrastructure hub in sub-Saharan Africa. This expansion positions Nigeria as a key destination for digital infrastructure investment and reinforces its potential to become a major player in the global digital economy.
