Royal Exchange General Insurance Company (REGIC) has announced the appointment of  Ebele Nwachukwu as its  new managing director and chief executive officer, with the goal of expanding into the retail insurance space.

Ike Chioke, REGIC chairman, disclosed this to the media recently, stating that the company is set to transform the retail insurance company in the country.

Chioke explained that the key objective of the new management headed by Nwachukwu is to diversify its business lines, and expand into the retail insurance space.

He also  noted that the vision of REGIC is to attain and maintain market leadership in terms of profitability and service excellence in the markets it operates.

According to him, the company’s  board strongly believes that Nwachukwu will drive the  vision, and help the company attain its goal of becoming a top three  general insurance firm in Nigeria, within three to five years..

“We strongly believe that the future is very bright for us at Royal Exchange General Insurance Company; Nwachukwu’s  appointment is the last piece of the puzzle we have solved to set us on the right trajectory for growth and sustained profitability in the years ahead, ” he remarked.

Chioke further expressed gratitude to Ben Agili, the outgoing CEO, for his outstanding service to the company; stating that his regime as the managing director steered the company to be among the major player in the general insurance space, adding that  his leadership, service, dedication, and strong commitment remains evergreen  to the company.

On her part, Nwachukwu, who has a good record of excellence to her name, promised to consolidate on the initiatives and services the company currently offer, while trying to expand its retail operations to deepen insurance penetration in the country.

According to her, the future of insurance lies in retail and REGIC  understands this, as it  strategizes avenues to leverage retail operations, without losing sight of the corporate market.

She  also assured the company board to utilise technology to reach the uninsured, and enhance insurance penetration in the country.

Prioir to her recent appointment at REGIC, Nwachukwu had headed two insurance companies and she hopes to utilise the knowledge she has so far in transforming Royal Exchange to be one of the top three insurance companies in Nigeria.
