Stanbic IBTC Insurance champions healthier, purposeful retirement

Joy Agwunobi

Stanbic IBTC Insurance Limited, a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, has called on retirees across Nigeria to embrace retirement not as an end, but as a new season of reinvention—one where financial stability, healthy living, and renewed purpose are central to enjoying a fulfilling life after work.

The company made the call during the second edition of its annual Annuitant Forum, held virtually under the theme “Making the Most of Life in Retirement.” The interactive event brought together annuitants from across the country for a day of reflection, learning, and open dialogue on navigating the opportunities and challenges of retirement.

Designed as a platform for direct engagement with clients, the forum featured discussions on practical issues facing today’s retirees, including maintaining financial stability in an unpredictable economy, estate planning, writing wills, and the importance of holistic well-being—physically, emotionally, and socially.

Speaking at the event, Akinjide Orimolade, chief executive of Stanbic IBTC Insurance, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to standing beside retirees every step of the way.

“Our mission is to help our annuitants make the most of this chapter, not just financially but in every aspect of their lives. Through forums like this, we reaffirm our role as partners in their well-being,” Orimolade said.

He noted that retirement should be seen as a phase of reinvention, where individuals can redefine passion, rediscover purpose, and build healthier lifestyles that support long-term fulfilment.

One of the highlights of the session was the two-way interaction between clients and the Stanbic IBTC team. Participants had the chance to share personal experiences, exchange practical tips, and raise direct questions about their annuity products, while also receiving expert guidance on retirement planning.

According to the organisers, this kind of engagement underscores Stanbic IBTC Insurance’s client-focused approach—ensuring that retirees not only feel heard and valued but are also empowered to make informed decisions about their futures.

The forum is part of the company’s broader strategy of deepening relationships with its annuitants, providing more than financial products by offering knowledge, tools, and encouragement to help retirees thrive. Over the years, Stanbic IBTC Insurance has positioned itself as more than just an annuity provider but as a trusted life partner dedicated to securing the post-work years with stability, joy, and purpose.

With the success of the 2025 edition, the Annuitant Forum has further cemented its role as a thought-leadership initiative in the insurance sector—demonstrating how insurers can create value beyond policies, by fostering a supportive community that empowers retirees to live well.
