Stock market closes negative with market capitalisation down N57bn

Trading activities on the  Nigerian Exchange (NGX) platform closed negative on Thursday as market capitalisation depreciated by N57 billion to close at N28.762 trillion.

The All-Share Index (ASI) declined by  0.20 per cent  to close at 52,821.64 index points as against 52,927.60 index points recorded in the previous day’s trading session.

A total of 377.13 million units of shares were exchanged in 5,879 deals, valued at  N9.18 billion.

UBA Plc was the most traded equity by volume, while GEREGU was the most traded equity by value, at the end of thursday’s trading activities.

Market breadth closed negative as CONOIL Plc  led the losers chart with a 9.92 per cent loss; while  FTNCOCOA Plc topped the gainers table with a  8.77 per cent gain.

FTNCOCOA topped the gainers chart as it increased by 8.77 per cent  to close at N0.62 per share; TANTALIZER appreciated  8.33 per cent  to close at N0.26 per share; WAPIC gained 7.14 per cent  to close at N0.45 per share; TOTAL increased by  6.87 per cent  to close at N249.00 per share; while RTBRISCOE gained 5.88 mper cent  to close at N0.36 per share.

However, CONOIL  topped the losers chart as it lost 9.92 per cent of its share prices  to close at N43.60 per share; UNILEVER was down 8.28 per cent  to close at N14.40 per share; ETERNA shed 6.21 per cent  to close at N6.80 per share; PZ  deprecioated 6.11 per cent  to close at N16.90 per share; while JAPAULGOLD declined by  by 5.71 per cent  to close at N0.33 per share.
