Owen Omogiafo, has been appointed an executive director of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), one of Nigeria’s leading conglomerates. He appointment takes effect from from July 1, 2018, the company announced in a statement made available to business a.m.
According the company, Omogiafo as executive director will support in driving and delivering on Transcorp’s strategic ambitions as the conglomerate continues to fulfil its special mission of lighting homes, schools, and hospitals in Nigeria, powering the country’s industrialisation process, and hosting local and foreign investors in Transcorp hotels across Nigeria.
Omogiafo studied sociology and anthropology at the University of Benin, where she earned earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree before attending at the London School of Economics for a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in human resource management. According to the statement issued by the company on her appointment, Omogiafo, who is currently the chief operating officer of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, a philanthropic organisation operating across Africa, has over 18 years’ corporate experience.
She is said to have held senior leadership positions, including director of resources, at Heirs Holdings, a family owned investment company with a portfolio spanning the power, oil and gas, financial services, hospitality, real estate and healthcare sectors, operating in twenty-three countries worldwide.
Omogiafo has has also served as HR advisor to the GMD/CEO at United Bank for Africa (UBA), and as an organisation & change management consultant at Accenture.
