Transquest Media Group is set to mark its 20th anniversary next year with a programme of events that places media excellence and economic policy dialogue at the centre of its celebrations. The organisation announced it will confer a special honour on Olufemi Orioye, a veteran broadcaster and community organiser, recognising his contributions to journalism and grassroots advocacy in Nigeria.
The award ceremony, scheduled for December 6, 2025 at Airport Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, signals the group’s intention to use its anniversary not merely as a commemorative moment but as a platform to highlight exemplary leadership in the media sector. In a statement signed by managing director and organising committee chair Felix O. Kumuyi and board chair Chief Olufemi Ogunsusi, the group described Orioye as a steadfast media practitioner whose career has been defined by professionalism and service.
Orioye, a broadcaster with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation in Abeokuta, has received multiple industry accolades, including the Merit Award for Outstanding Media Practice. Beyond his newsroom work, he is known for his community engagement as convener of the Campaign Against Drug Abuse and Cultism, a non-governmental organisation focused on youth outreach and social intervention. Transquest said it was this blend of public-interest advocacy, media leadership and professional dedication that informed its decision to honour him.
The anniversary will also feature a policy-focused transport and maritime seminar, reflecting the group’s interest in convening debate on Nigeria’s economic development priorities. With the theme “Attaining Africa’s Trade/Maritime Hub: Leveraging Nigeria’s Maritime Potentials to Drive Economic Growth,” the one-day event will bring together academics, industry executives and policymakers for discussions on how Nigeria can expand its influence in continental logistics and trade corridors.
The seminar will be chaired by Bamidele Badejo, with Iyiola Oni of the University of Lagos as guest speaker. Organisers say the format will combine a keynote lecture with a panel-led group discussion featuring CEOs of sector agencies and seasoned practitioners. Audience engagement is expected to be central to the event, which aims to generate practical recommendations for strengthening the maritime industry and positioning Nigeria more competitively in regional commerce.
