Wigwe University, a renowned institution dedicated to academic excellence and innovation in Nigeria, proudly announces the launch of a scholarship program that will offer 100 outstanding students the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without financial burden. The university, which is set to open its doors to students in September 2024, strives to empower young minds with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to become transformative leaders in their respective fields.

In line with the late Herbert Wigwe’s visionary legacy, the scholarship programme serves as a reflection of the university’s unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of fearless leaders.

These merit-based scholarships have been thoughtfully crafted to support academically brilliant, leadership-oriented, and entrepreneurial-spirited students with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. The scholarships will not only enable these students to unlock their fullest potential but also reinforce Wigwe University’s unwavering dedication to shaping the future of education in Nigeria

The alleviation of financial obstacles through this scholarship will enable scholars to flourish in an environment that encourages innovation and societal contributions.

By honoring Wigwe’s dream, the university remains steadfast in its commitment to establishing a world-class institution that not only meets global standards but also nurtures intellectual development, critical thinking, and the pursuit of positive impact on society.

As the university commences its journey, it strives to continue its legacy by offering unparalleled educational experiences and fostering a community of scholars who will lead with integrity and excellence.

Commenting on the programme, Marwan AI-Akaidi the acting vice chancellor of Wigwe University, said, “This initiative emphasizes our commitment to providing quality education to all, regardless of their financial background, in line with the vision of our late founder,  Herbert Wigwe.

“By investing in our students, we are not only shaping the future of our institution but also nurturing a generation of fearless leaders.”

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have selected Wigwe University Isiokpo as their first choice and achieved a minimum score of 170 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Additionally, candidates must ensure that their qualifying results are uploaded to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal.

For candidates currently awaiting their O’level results, it is recommended that they upload them to the JAMB portal as soon as possible to ensure a seamless application process.

Candidates who initially selected a different institution as their first choice but meet the minimum UTME score may still be eligible for the scholarship by updating their JAMB form to reflect Wigwe University Isiokpo as their first choice before the closure of the Change of Institution process. However, Direct Entry candidates are not eligible for the merit-based scholarship.

Prospective students can begin the admission process by visiting the official Wigwe University portal and completing the necessary steps. Once the admission application is completed, candidates should visit the scholarship page on the university portal and click on “Apply Now” to start their scholarship application.

The institution noted that successful candidates will be notified by the first week of September 2024. However, applications must be submitted by or before August 26, 2024 through the  link: Wigwe University Scholarship Application.
